Class Descriptions

Intention

The first thing to do is close your eyes and focus on your
intention. In other words, aim at something.

Dedicate your p
ractice to a meaningful transition you wish to have in your life. An example here might be Peace, Forgiveness, or
Patience.

There is an old saying that if you aim at nothing
you’re sure to hit it. But when you direct your mind and heart in one direction, it gives your actions great power.

Your spirituality, however you define it, can be infused into your body so your body radiates who you are from your soul – and what you stand for in this world.

Advanced Practice   Join Juli in the workshop style class that will focus on various advanced poses.  Offered on the first Monday of each month, beginning October 4th.

Back to Basics
focuses on pose alignment and basic structure of the poses with connections to breathing; there is less focus on flow. Michelle says prepare to relax and have fun.

Beginners Yoga
is great for people who have never taken yoga before or for those who want to move a bit slower.  This series class introduces students to proper deep breathing, basic standing and seated poses, relaxation techniques, stretching and balance.  The results include strengthening the core body, flexibility and enjoying the aliveness of achieving a balanced state.

Easy Flow  Cheryl's lunchtime class is an all-levels class suitable for anyone wishing to stretch gently and relax.  A variety of postures will be taught with a focus on safety, alignment and stress relief.

Easy Yoga and Stress Relief these lunchtime classes are suitable for absolute beginners as well as experienced students. This Kripalu class is being taught by Annette, RN. It is a gentle restorative class designed to reduce stress, increase range of motion, improve circulation, and strengthen the immune system.

Cancer Survivor Yoga  Annette Tersigni R.N., known as the Yoga Nurse® is the facilitator for this successful and life affirming support group. Annette was the creator and presenter of yoga for cancer survivors for the past two years for the Raab Clinic and Carteret General Hospital. Patients gather, share valuable information, drink tea in our lounge area and then practice gentle, restorative yoga in our beautiful, pristine yoga studio. New friendships and heart felt bonds are formed. By donation.

Family Yoga  is similar to kid’s yoga because is based on a fun theme such as traveling to the beach or going on an African Safari. However, emphasis is placed on partner poses that give the parent and child the opportunity to bond together. Instead of dropping your child off at a music lesson or watching him play soccer from the sidelines, the parent has the opportunity to experience practicing a pose, such as double tree, where you stand side by side to support each other.  Communication between the family members is important in order to find balance. Or imagine doing back-to-back downward dog poses, facing each other upside down and giggling.  The session end with the families lying down in a relaxation pose, listening to a soothing guided meditation or gentle music.

Gentle Yoga is taught by Hanna Coe, R.N., B.S. who has been practicing yoga for at least 40 years throughout her nursing practice.  She teaches you deep breathing and relaxation techniques that will help you remain healthy and active.  With just one yoga session, you can increase your energy level and lift your spirits.

Hatha Yoga Cheryl teaches this traditional yoga class with sequences designed to warm up the body and typically move from basic postures to more intermediate and advanced movements. There is more emphasis on holding poses and less on poses flowing.

Hot Power Yoga This class blends yoga moves with the studio temp revved up to maximize muscle pliability and detoxification.  Bring a towel to dry off and water to rehydrate.

Integral Yoga
is an instructional class where Jaya uses her knowledge of anatomy to teach you a deeper understanding of the asanas.  She emphasizes moving in and out of positions based on your internal flow.  She encourages you to listen to your own body which results in a deeper awareness of the yoga experience.  Her sense of humor makes this class fun.

Pilates dramatically transforms the way your body looks, feels and performs.  It builds core strength and muscles without bulk.  It teaches body awareness, good posture, and easy, graceful movement.  Pilates improves flexibility, agility and economy of motion.  It can even help alleviate back pain

Restorative and iRest® In this class, Cheryl blends gentle warm-ups and simple traditional asanas to encourage the movement of breath and raise heat in the body before cooling down and moving into slow, deep restorative poses to stretch the spine, open the hips and expand the heart
center. The class ends with a guided meditation that is used by the military to reduce stress in the returning veterans.

Vinyasa Level II Gerlinde teaches this class where poses flow one into another, synchronized with breath.

Strength and Toning.  Connie uses weights, stretch bands, exercise balls and Gliding™ disks to strengthen and tone all of your muscles.  It’s a fun, movement-based class that invigorates the muscles and mind.

Yoga Blend In this class Brad will explore Kripalu Yoga combined with the Yoga Stick.  Come and learn the benefits of using the Yoga Stick with new postures that will provide gentle yoga stretching from the inside out for beginners and seasoned practitioners alike. You will experience enhanced alignment with the yoga stick, increased strength, stamina, flexibility and take your yoga balancing postures to a whole new level of accomplishment.

Yoga for Backs  focuses on poses and movements that stretch and strengthen core and back muscles to prevent and treat back pain.

YogaKids® allows children to have fun while doing yoga poses to such themes as A Day at the  Beach, A Trip to Dinosaur Land, and Sponge Bob Does Yoga.  Children learn to utilize their breath to energize themselves or to calm down.  The children truly learn how to relax during the guided meditation.
