Katie DePalma
, RYT, IAYT

Katie's been practicing yoga for over 10 years, is a registered yoga teacher with Yoga Alliance and lives by the quote "the tribute to learning is teaching".  While she always loved her practice, it wasn't until she lived in Chicago, worked full time in the financial industry and took graduate classes at night that she fully realized the benefits of yoga.  The weeks she'd practice yoga, even just once, she felt lighter, looser, and the stress just rolled off.  After receiving her MBA, she followed her heart to 7 Centers Yoga Arts in Sedona, Arizona for  two months to fully integrate herself into the yogic lifestyle of the Iyengar lineage, and has been teaching ever since.  From 2009-2011 she brought stress-reducing yoga to corporate America wellness centers in downtown Chicago.  Now in North Carolina, she enjoys sharing the benefits of yoga to the community through a combo of classical Hatha and vinyasa flow classes.  She thinks if the music's fun people may actually have a good time!  Since her initial training Katie has had the luxury of learning and practicing with Ana Forrest, Paul Grilley, Paulie Zink, Judith Lasater and others.  She continues to practice Bhakti or devotional yoga according to Sri Swama Sivananda, practices which go hand-in-hand with teachings from the Vedas.  She is a member of the International Association of Yoga Therapists and currently training for her 500 hour certification in Yoga Therapy.  Follow her yogic ventures, book reviews and other random thoughts at www.kate-thetruth.blogspot.com.
